Glas Državljanov Evrope. Manifest oseb in organizacij, prejemnikov nagrade Državljan Evrope za združeno in solidarno okrevanje Evrope.
Evropska unija se sooča s težavnim socioekonomskim in zdravstvenim okrevanjem, ki sta drastični posledici, ki ju je povzročila epidemija COVID-19. Smo pred velikimi izzivi, zato ljudje in organizacije, odlikovani z nagrado Državljan Evrope, želimo povzdigniti glas in zahtevamo, da iz vsega tega izidemo kot združena in solidarna Evropa, ki z u…poštevanjem temeljnih vrednot Evropske unije, ni pustila nikogar ob strani.
Svoj glas usmerjamo na institucije in na evropske državljane, ki so prepoznali naša prizadevanja in nam podelili naziv Državljan Evrope. Vsi dobitnik smo na svojem področju trdo delali za vsesplošno dobrobit državljanov in predstavljamo pestrost vrednot, ki so zapisane v Listini EU o temeljnih pravicah: enakost in socialna pomoč, vključenost in enakopravnost do priložnosti za vse osebe, izobraževanje, delo, zdravje, zaščita pravic otrok in starejših oseb, solidarnost in socialna pravičnost za migrante in begunce, zaščita okolja in trajnostni razvoj. Naša odgovornost in obveznost je, da se oglasimo sedaj in se zahvalimo za to priznanje, ter združimo moči in znanje iz različnih izkušenj iz naših držav.
To iniciativo smo poimenovali Glas Državljanov Evrope, s čimer opominjamo, da je Sylvie Guillaume, francoska socialdemokratinja, podpredsednica Evropskega parlamenta in članica komisije, ki je izbrala prejemnike nagrade Državljan Evrope leta 2017, na slavnostni podelitvi nagrad dejala: »Naši državljani imajo glas in ta nagrada dokazuje, da so njihovi glasovi slišani.«
Zato državljanke in državljani Evrope sporočamo politikom, ki bodo odgovorni za okrevanje po epidemiji: »Poskrbite, da iz te krize izidemo vsi skupaj in da ne bomo nikogar pustili ob strani. Človeka postavite v središče pozornosti in računajte na našo aktivno udeležbo za dosego tega cilja. Tukaj smo.«
Iniciativi, ki so jo predlagale španske organizacije, prejemnice nagrade Državljan Evrope 2017, se je pridružila tudi ZDUS.
